Calgary Fire Department Headquarters “Holding Fast”

A commission that honours those who have died in service - gold leafed emblems among the pattern of emblems that define the perimeter of the installation, with a collection of large, circular panels surmounted. These panels act as a timeline, from top to bottom, highlighted by the largest, central panel which features an trans-generational hand/arm grip; the leather mitts worn by those that served before, the gloves now worn, suggesting respect and support. Gold leaf was used throughout, hearkening the passion for polishing the brass, circular fittings in the fire halls.
