Wickaninnish Long House

This backdrop to a performance and teaching space used traditional construction methods and materials: adzed heavy cedar logs, roof poles, shingles, etc., all under the expert leadership of Bryn Finer design. Metro was hired to subtly illustrate the lifestyle and activities of those within this space: women cooking, children playing, sleeping, fishing and building implements hanging in the rafters and stacked along the interior walls. Executed in pale shades of smoky grey brown, these were painting directly onto traditionally accurate wide cedar planking, creating a soft interior panorama of daily life for the Nuu’chah’nulth people.
